EC error code on Carrier AC (Air Conditioner) indicates the presence of Refrigerant Leak Detection Error.
This means that the system on the air conditioner has detected a leak. Although there is a leak in the unit, this EC error can also be triggered by problems with the sensor and malfunctions.
Causes of EC Error Code in AC (Air Conditioner):
- Refrigerant Leak
- Problems with sensors
- Poor ac installation
- PCB on Indoor & outdoor units
However, the most common cause that causes EC errors in air conditioners is usually a leak.
How to Fix EC error in AC (Air Conditioner):
1. Turn off the air conditioner and disconnect the power
Turn off the unit and turn off the electrical connection in the air conditioner for 2-3 minutes. Then restart your AC, if the EC error is still there follow the next steps.
2. Check for Refrigerant leaks
When looking for leaks, see if there is oil around the outdoor or indoor air conditioning unit.
Leaks can be found using soap and water.
It is better at this stage that you call a technician because most ac technicians have leak detectors. If there is a leak then it should be fixed immediately and do not forget to add refrigerant (Freon).
3. Check the Sensor on the AC
A loose connection can also display EC errors on your AC.
4. Damage to PCB board
If all the above methods have been handled EC errors still appear, and there is most likely a problem on the PCB board of your AC unit.
